White Dot Descends

September 13th, 2012

The last morning of our first trip.  Up and moving at 6:00 AM, thinking through what needs to happen to get us on the road.  Sorry to be leaving Muley, sorry for the trip to end.  It has been magical.

While walking over to the cook tent, just the first light of dawn is showing to the east.  All of a sudden, a brilliant white light and a narrow line appear in the sky.  It grows and then explodes into a shower of white, a flare fires off into space and a small white dot descends.

Jenn walks over.  We try to imagine what it is we've just seen.  A rocket launch from the new Spaceport in southern New Mexico is the best we can do.
